| Abstract |
This paper characterizes a new class of computer system to be called 'KAY'(Know About You). It is an Expert System for Cervical Cancer.
The body renews and replaces its cells through a constant process of cell division and growth. Cells exist, repair themselves, die and are reborn. Old tissues are replaced with new ones and injured cells are repaired. Thus the body grows and develops. Normally the body has control mechanisms that limits abnormal cell growth. The abnormal cells form turmours.
The expert system KAY uses a rule-based knowledge representation that works through forward chaining. This system uses a database of knowledge to draw conclusions.
The concept of expert systems is based on the assumption that expert's knowledge can be captured in computer storage and then applied by others if the need arises. The system is forwarded by extracting knowledge from experts, literature, around 50,000 records of the patients from Aringer Anna Memorial Cancer and Research Institute, Kancipuram and the rules are framed with help of these experts. |
