ACCOMMODATION

The Organising Committee has secured accommodation at the Workshop Venue and nearby Hotels at specially reduced prices. Applications for hotel accommodation must be made on the enclosed hotel reservation form on or before 10th November, 2001. Any request for accommodation after the deadline will be subject to availability of rooms.

CLIMATE

Weather in December in Chennai is pleasant with temperatures around 30C; there could be monsoon rains. Cotton clothing or light clothes are recommended.

TRANSPORTATION

Chennai has the largest metropolitan bus service network in India. In addition three suburban train lines operate catering to the large population. Metered Taxis and Autorickshaws are also available.

FOOD

Chennai is the centre for the delicious and world famous South Indian curry. Both vegetarians and non-vegetarians will find Chennai to be a paradise with an excellent variety of food to suit the individual palate and purse. Good restaurants are located near the Conference venue and all over the city.

SHOPPING

Chennai is famous for Silk (The world famous Kancheepuram Silk Sarees) and cotton wear, leather products and handicrafts.
